Revolution and Separation

After separation from the Spanish crown, the Mexican government experienced frequent upheaval.  The rivaling political parties created a feeling of unrest among the residents of Mexican Texas.

This exhibit will document the issues which led to the Texas Revolution, including the fight for the right to continue slavery.

This exhibit will also reveal the roles Blacks played before and during the Texas Revolution.

Some Blacks fought alongside Whites, and where they were not permitted, they gave provisions in support of a “free” Texas.
